Shrink Plastic Summer Jewellery

Ages 6 - 8 years

£20 pp

Come along and make your own unique jewellery for the summer. We will be using shrink plastic and acrylic and wooden beads to make fun jewellery.

Shrink plastic is a thin piece of plastic that shrinks down to about a quarter of its original size when it is exposed to heat. The plastic will also become both thicker and harder once it has been shrunk so is ideal for making charms and pendants. It is safe and non-toxic so perfect for use by all ages.

First of all we will design our pendants. You can either use your imagination or use one of the templates provided. We colour in our designs using sharpie pens and then cut them out and heat them in an oven. Whilst the shrink plastic pieces are cooling we will design our necklace using acrylic or wooden beads. Once the pendant is cool we will attach these to our necklaces.

We will have time to make a matching bracelet and some earrings or a bag charm. Don’t worry if you haven’t got your ears pierced, we have got clip on earrings.

Metal Stamped Aluminium Cuffs

Ages 14 - 18 years

£40 pp

Join us for our brand new workshop for older teenagers. Metal stamping is a technique where you mark the surface of metal with a design by hitting a stamp to create an impression. It lets you create your own one-of-a kind designs as you can add letters, words and symbols to make your own truly personal piece of jewellery

During our workshops you will first get used to the tools involved and practice metal stamping on copper blanks. This will help you to learn the techniques involved and how to work with the hammers. Once we have got to grips with stamping then we can create our design on our aluminium cuff.

During the workshop you will make one 10mm aluminium cuff and two 6mm aluminium cuffs.

This is a great workshop for older teenagers as it starts to introduce metal working skills, great preparation for when you are old enough to move onto silversmithing.

All materials and tools are provided.

Polymer Clay Watermelon Jewellery

Ages 12 years+

£30 pp

Join us at our workshop where we will make watermelon charms from Polymer Clay. Polymer Clay is an easy to use modelling clay that is non-toxic and perfect for children to work with. It is easily shaped and then baked where it hardens and can be used for jewellery making.

First of all we will make our watermelons by building up a complete watermelon. Once we have made the melon we will slice it into segments for using as charms.

Whilst it is cooling we will make our necklace using seed beads and flat nosed pliers. Once the charms have cooled we can attach them to our jewellery.

We will be able to make more than one piece of jewellery using our sections of watermelon.

This workshop is great fun as we get to make and slice into our watermelon, it is always fun at the big “reveal” when we cut the melon in half.
