Here is some useful information for those attending our holiday and weekend classes at Workshop925 at the Mayford Centre
What is Supplied During the Class?
All the materials that you need for your class are provided e.g. beads, beading wire, clasps etc.
The tools that you need will be available for you to use during your class, e.g. beading mat, pliers etc.
For some of the classes you will need to wear an apron as they can be a little messy. Aprons are available to borrow but you may want to bring your own, especially our younger jewellers as ours may be a little too big! I’ll let you know if your class needs an apron.
For those who would like to continue their jewellery making at home there will be starter sets of all the things you need to bead at home for sale after your workshop (beading mat, set of tools, bead design board. There will also be jewellery kits available so that you can practice what you learnt to make during the class or try something else.
Is there parking at the Mayford Centre?
There is free parking at The Mayford Centre. Most of the time you can park directly outside the workshop unit which is based within the Furnace Building at the Mayford Centre.
Occasionally there are busier times where parking can become a little more difficult, especially at the weekends. You should, however, still be able to find parking along side the football fields near the Furnace building or within the larger main car park.
Where is the workshop?
The Mayford Centre is situated off the B380 Smarts Heath Road. The sat nav postcode is GU22 0PP.
The workshop is at the far end of the bottom building (with black walls and roof) opposite the football fields (not in the main house). If you can’t find it on the day then please just call me on 07775 129380 and I can guide you.
What do I need to bring to my class?
It is a good idea to bring a bottle of water with you and also a nut free snack as we like to have a break halfway through the class to stretch our fingers and rest our eyes.
Is there disabled access to the workshop?
The workshop is situated on the ground floor and right by the entrance to the furnace building which makes access easy for all. We have a lovely open workshop space which welcomes and accommodates all students.
However the toilet facilities within the Furnace building are limited for those who are disabled, if you have a carer to assist you, they are very welcome to join you during your session.
If you have any special needs or concerns, please get in touch and we will be more than happy to help and discuss any worries you may have.
Will I be able to take my work home with me?
All of the jewellery that you make during your class is yours to take home and keep. You will get a pretty purple organza gift bag to take your jewellery home in.
Occasionally on some of the classes for older students you may not finish your piece by the end of the class. In these cases you can either take it home and finish it yourself or I can finish it for you and post it to you once it is completed.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Classes are rarely cancelled but sometimes this is out of my control due to tutor illness, dangerous weather conditions or not enough places being booked.
If your class does have to be cancelled then I will get in touch with you asap but at least 24 hours before your scheduled class.
I will try to re-arrange the class for a new date but if this isn’t possible or the dates are not convenient to you, then I will offer you a full refund.
If you decide to cancel your booked class then I will try to fill your available space as long as I receive notice of your cancellation with at least 48 hours notice. If you cancel your class less than 48 hours before it was scheduled then, unfortunately, I will be unable to offer a refund.
Please get in touch if your child is displaying symptoms of Covid such as a new cough, high temperature or a loss of smell etc. or if there is a case of Covid within your household. It is better to be safe than sorry and we will try to rearrange your child’s class or book them onto a different class when they are feeling better.
