After School Clubs

I currently run After School Clubs for children ages 7 - 11 years old at St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School in Guildford. These are fun and creative classes where we make a different piece of jewellery each week. We develop the skills needed to make all sorts of jewellery using a variety of different materials. Without realising it, the children are developing their measuring, design, counting, patience and motor skills amongst others, all in a fun way.

We link some of the classes into the curriculum, e.g. Tudor jewellery for Year 5; Roman jewellery for Year 3. In these classes we explore in more detail the jewellery and fashion of the time and then make a piece of jewellery that can be worn on the relevant themed day at school.

The clubs are open to both boys and girls and we use a mix of beads and materials that apply to both, including wooden beads, sharks teeth, spiky rubber beads - not just pearls and flowers.

For more information please contact the office at St Thomas of Canterbury School.
