I am excited to announce that I will be running jewellery holiday workshops at the Farnham Maltings from this October as well as at Workshop925.
Our next children’s jewellery workshops will be during this October half term holiday.
HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
The workshop is located between Guildford and Woking in Surrey and was launched by Kirsted Hendrich Jewellery. The workshop offers a wide range of classes for adults and by using the workshop for children’s classes it is a great way to introduce younger people to the world of jewellery making. The workshop is a lovely, bright open space with individual work stations - a great place to to make jewellery.
The workshop can be found at Unit F9, The Mayford Centre, Mayford, Woking, GU22 0PP
Our holiday classes take place in the Farnham Maltings. Farnham Maltings is many things. For over fifty years they have operated as an arts and cultural centre presenting a programme of performance, craft showcases and participation work which contributes to the town of Farnham’s quality of life.
We are proud to be able to offer our jewellery workshops in such a creative arena.
Farnham Maltings can be found at Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7QR
Children aged from 8 years+
We start to use smaller beads and introduce the use of pliers and other techniques. We use different types of beads, not just acrylic. These classes last 2 hours so that we can get to make a few pieces.
Children aged from 10 years+
These classes are where we really get to explore different methods of jewellery making. We use smaller beads and look at more complicated techniques such as enamelling, kumihimo bracelets. These classes last 3 hours so that we can get to make a few pieces and really explore what we’re making without rushing.
Children aged from 14 - 18 years
These are our new classes for older teenagers where we start working with metal working tools as a bridge between younger classes and silversmithing. These classes last 3 hours so that we can get used to using hammers and tools and then put these new skills to work by making metal worked pieces.
Children aged from 6 - 8 years
These are our introduction to jewellery making classes. We use large hole beads which are easy to thread onto cord for little fingers. The beads are made from acrylic or wood which are safer for younger children. We use safety release clasps or elastic which are easy to get on on and off.
These classes last 1.5 hours so that we can get to make a few pieces but without tiring the child.
